The gurudwara was founded in 1925 by the Sikh community in the Harbour area. At the centre of the city another Gurudwara was built in 1955. Religious celebrations are held from 6A.M. to 9 A.M.every day. Other function include Baisakhi celebration, Gurupurbs, Guru Gobind Singh Avtar gurupurb. Suitable Accommodation is available for visitors. There are about 600 members of the sikh community in the area.
