As a result of
representation made by The Sikh Dharma Brotherhood (USA), the Labor
department of US Government exempted the Sikh workers employed in
workshops from wearing safety helmet which are required to be worne
by all the labourers in carpentary trade and construction (an OSHA
program Directive of 1972). The exemption to Sikh employees was granted
under the provisions of the Unites States Constitution relating to
free exercise of religion.
